YMCA International
The YMCA values diversity, inclusion and the global community. Collectively, we use the partnerships that we have with over 120 countries to educate and assist those around the world to reach their potential.
For the YMCA of Southern Arizona, the ability to integrate international dimensions into our Y programs is a critical component in maintaining our connection to the global movement. International awareness also connects us to the increasing culturally diverse population right here in our own community.
Casa YMCA
Casa YMCA is a home for migrant youth in Agua Prieta, Mexico which provides temporary shelter for children between the ages of 8 and 18 who have been deported from the United States. Migrant youth who are separated from their families receive temporary safe shelter, clothing and food until they can be reunited. The CASA YMCA house, of which the YMCA of Southern Arizona is a sponsor, has successfully served more than 2, 150 youth since its inception in 2003.
Global Teens
Our Global Teens Program has provided partial scholarships to teens who serve as ambassadors in the YMCA Global Teens. The Global Teens Program provides youth an opportunity for leadership development, personal growth, new cultural experiences and increased international understanding. In 2008 three Tucson teens volunteered at the YMCA International Conference in Prague as part of this amazing program.
